Spark Camp - The Borealis School of Wizarding

So, as much as I didn't want to go (it's a lot of work) Spark Camp was a lot of Fun! It was two weekends ago. the weather was great during the day, if a bit cold at night.

We brought out the big tent and popped all the girls into it. (it sleeps 10 apparently, but fits 9 five and six year olds nicely.)

The camp was named the Borealis School of Wizardry. It was a Harry Potter Theme Camp. On Saturday all the girls were Sorted into four houses, Earth (with green tree name tags) Air (with pink birds) Sky (yellow Moons) and Water (Blue Sea Horses.) They then had to attend school (Potions where they played with Gack (cornstarch and water) and turned dull pennies shiny with "magic", Transfiguration where we grew Epsom Salt crystals etc, Divination where we did things like taste test jelly beans and "divine" what flavour they were and Levitation where they made "crystal balls" with floating things in them.) After that we played a good old fashioned game of Quidditch.

(our Goal Posts. You had to get your Quaffles through the hoops.)

Of course because none of us could actually fly and this is CANADA, we used several different sized balls and rode Hockey Sticks. because that's how the game would be played in the Great White North.
Later in the day we had Care of Magical Creatures. We made Owl Masks. This is me (in orange) and "Hagrid" in our masks.

Even though she isn't a Spark yet, the Doodle was there.

contrary to what this looks like, she was playing in the dirt and rubbed her eye. ha ha! she looks like a puppy with one black eye. She's funny.

We got rained out of the original camp. Actually, it was beautiful that particular weekend in June but we couldn't go to camp because the site was flooded. So, we had to move to July. Which is really too bad because we had about 40 girls going in June and were reduced to only 18 in July. but that's OK. it was still fun.

However, I'm glad Guiding is over for another year. I need a rest.
