I was reading another blog entry from the Scholarly Kitchen. I tried to "reBlog" the entry to here, but it wasn't working for some reason.
Anyway, it's short, and it's about Google's "less than free" pricing model that they have on their stuff. As in, it actually costs you less money than "free" to use it. That's on account of the ads they place next to the product, which make money. wow.
A few years ago I went to the ACRL conference in Minneapolis. (That's the Association of College and Research Libraries) They showed this video in one of the sessions called Epic 2014. It's a funny look at the future when Google and Amazon have merged and have taken over the web. It's funny to watch (it was some sort of project some guys did for school.) but it shows you how it could be a little scary, and it's something that you can see happening.
Well, the article from the Scholarly Kitchen is about what Google is doing now. It's about how Google is about to kill GPS paid services with it's less than free service. If you have a free moment, go read the article.
